Reports have suggested that researchers in China has found a middle-aged man with a prolonged version of the potentially deadly illness.
The new mutated version of coronavirus could infect people for nearly two months, the research warned.
The middle-aged man who had the disease for 49 days, a significantly longer durations than the current strain, had to be treated with a plasma transfusion from other COVID-19 sufferers who had recovered, the report claimed.
Researchers said the patient’s case could suggest coronavirus has mutated.
The researchers from the Army Medical University in Chongqing, in Wuhan said that the virus may have formed a ‘symbiotic relationship’ with its host.
